Benefits of Art for children and teens

  • Stimulates and develops the imagination and critical thinking, and refines cognitive and creative skills.
  • Has a tremendous impact on the developmental growth of every child and has proven to help level the "learning field" across socio-economic boundaries.
  • Strengthens problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, adding to overall academic achievement and school success.
  • Develops a sense of craftsmanship, quality task performance, and goal-setting—skills needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
  • Teaches children life skills such as developing an informed perception; articulating a vision; learning to solve problems and make decisions; building self-confidence and self-discipline; developing the ability to imagine what might be; and accepting responsibility to complete tasks from start to finish.
  • Nurtures important values, including team-building skills; respecting alternative viewpoints; and appreciating and being aware of different cultures and traditions.
Source: Young Children and the Arts: Making Creative Connections, 1998, Introduction
  • Plays a central role in cognitive, motor, language, and social-emotional development.
  • Motivates and engages children in learning, stimulates memory, facilitates understanding, enhances symbolic communication, promotes relationships, and provides an avenue for building competence.
  • Provides a natural source of learning. Child development specialists note that play is the business of young children; play is the way children promote and enhance their development. The arts are a most natural vehicle for play

The Enchanted Forest Art Pop Up Festival

The Enchanted Forest

A Seasonal Magical Pop Up Extravaganza 4 All
@
Art 4 All People in Malibu

19562 Pacific Coast Highway

November 30th-December 2nd
Opening Reception November 30th 5-8pm

In the days not too long ago it was known that the forests hills and dales were filled with something special that no one could explain or prove but true non the less. Many stories have been told about the little people, the plant devas, elves, fairies, dwarfs, giants, witches and magicians  that walked the earth along with humanity in the ages past. In the book Folk Tales of the British Isles edited by Keven Crossley- Holland there are many accounts some document able some too old to do so that tell the rare and instructive stories of these folks and their doings with the human world.Tolkien coined the name of this realm as Middle Earth. In building our safe bug free so called clean world we have decimated this population and they have left us. But have they? I walk the streets of this city and see the amazing diversity of plant life. I can imagine a leaf hiding a small man who watches as we pass from the other side. With science breaking new grounds in many areas this may be a moment in time when there is a new tolerance and understanding for things we at one time thought just a "fairy story". After the doors have been opened to the dark underworld of "Samhain" (Halloween) it is time now to celebrate the middle realms.
This event is a show of great talent that honors the old ones. Come celebrate with Art for All People as we rekindle our new/old relationship to this realm long ago forgotten.

Come eat drink dance and maybe just maybe a few fairies will show and read your soul with poetry.  There will be for sale affordable art priced for under the tree, from paintings, sculptures, prints, dolls, crystals, jewelry and  much more.
Kids Enchanted Forest Join us Dec 1st and 2nd from 12:00- 5:00 for an ornamental extravaganza for the kids. We will offer supplies for a nominal fee in order for the kids or adults to create their own up cycle ornament. If you desire bring your old discarded toys, objects, and that little something you found on the street that was so cool you kept it and in the spirit of restoration give new life to what has been lost. Also, there will be an magicalYoga and Art (YogART) kids class offered on Saturday and Sunday.
